What are Downloadable Audiobooks?

Downloadable Audiobooks from NetLibrary and Recorded Books are digital versions of audiobooks that are available through the Internet. Audiobooks can be played on any desktop or portable device supporting Windows Media Player version 9.0 and above. You can also transfer your favorite titles to a wide range of portable devices, including portable music players, portable media centers, Pocket PCs, and even select smartphone devices.  Click here for a list of tested MP3 players that work with eAudiobooks.

There are over 2,200 titles to choose from in the adult, young adult and children’s collections. Over 700 titles are now iPod-compatible.  There’s an eAudiobook to suit anyone’s interests.

Getting started:

  1. You need a valid Waterbury Public Library card. (Click here to learn how to get a card.)
  2. You need to set up your account in person at the Library. A librarian will show you which computer to use.
  3. Once you have created your account, you do not have to be at the Library to log in and download an eAudiobook.

Visit NetLibrary’s website to learn about NetLibrary’s new Media Center software.  Media Center is a free application that you can download and install on your personal computer.  It is not required to use eAudiobooks, but it makes searching and downloading easier.  IMPORTANT:  Before downloading Media Center, be sure your computer meets the necessary installation requirements.
